The international event is a new Championship consisting of six beach sports, including Beach Handball, Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Beach Tennis, Beach Wrestling and Surfing. National University Sport Federation (NUSFs) athletes and delegates will take part in the highly anticipated first edition of the Beach Games on the beaches of Rio.

The Beach Wrestling tournament will take place on the 7th and 8th September at Botafogo Beach. It is expected that the tournament will follow in accordance with the most recent United World Wrestling technical regulations, with typical weight categories in both Men’s and Women’s divisions.

A vibrant and diverse city, Rio de Janeiro is home to various cultural, theatrical and artistic spectacles, and with its superb nature, iconic beaches and rich beach culture, it’s only fitting the first-ever FISU World University Beach Games take place there.
