Egypt 2025 worldchampionship
The 2025 Beach Wrestling World Series has landed in Alexandria, and for the first time ever, the champions will be crowned on the African continent on October 18 to 19, 2025.

This isn’t just a new destination. It’s the final stop of the season, and the one that matters most. With four times the ranking points on the line, everything is still to play for across all eight senior weight categories. Titles are on the line. Leads could disappear. And by Sunday night, we’ll know who gets to call themselves the 2025 Kings and Queens of the sand.

It’s been a landmark season for the sport of Beach Wrestling. From Monterrey to Poreč, Casablanca to Katerini, the sandy circle has grown in size, scope, and reputation. New nations have entered, rivalries have ignited, and now it all comes down to this.

The rankings battles couldn’t be tighter. At 50kg, Alevtyna LIASHENKO (UKR) leads the rankings but will have to be at her best to keep the chasing pack behind her. Reigning champion Anastaiya KRAVCHENKO (UKR) sits on top at 60kg, though compatriot Sofiia KUSHNIR isn’t far behind. The 70kg sees Greece’s Dimitra ANDROUTSOU arrive as favourite, but Olena NIKITINSKA (UKR) will be pushing for a final leg upset. And in the +70kg, Eliana BOMMARITO (USA) can make it three titles in a row as she leads the standings with Iryna PASICHNYK from the Ukraine chasing.

On the men’s side, 2024 world champion Oleksii BORUTA (UKR) heads the 70kg table, but Ivan SEMENOV (UKR) and Iran’s Aliakbar ZAROUDI are still within reach. Iran will be confident, ZAROUDI kicked off their current streak, and they’ve taken gold in back-to-back stops. At 80kg, defending champion Vasile DIACON from Moldova leads the standings, but Ali Mohammad GHOLAMI (IRI) is still right in the mix especially with 4 times the ranking points available. The 90kg crown is held for now by three-time world champion YUSUBOV (AZE), though Ukraine’s Oleksii YAKOVCHUK and Amirhossein KAVOUSI from Iran are both contenders for a late surge. Over at +90kg, the reigning champion from Georgia Mamuka KORDZAIA leads the field, but Turkey as well as Ukraine are in play through Fatih YASARLI, world champion in 2022 and 2023, and Oleksandr VERESIUK.

Ukraine arrives with a deep team and medals in sight. Iran is chasing history. Georgia, Azerbaijan, and the USA all have firepower ready. And Egypt steps into the spotlight on home sand, hosting the final for the first time.
