Not only is he gunning for Gold in Greece after a slow start to the Beach Wrestling World Series, but he is looking to improve his countries results, as well as pass his wealth of experience, which saw him wrestle for his county at the Olympics in Rio, to the next generation of Azerbaijani wrestlers as he helps the Juniors and Cadets prepare for the European Championships, which also take place on Paralia Beach this weekend alongside the World Series.
His passion for the sport really shines through when he speaks about Beach Wrestling and he hopes that it can keep growing from strength to strength, with the ultimate aim seeing the sport take its place alongside its more traditional style at the Olympics. He speaks with pride not only about his own achievements in the sport but also of his compatriots of who he is now head coach, as he detailed how they picked up two silver medals at the World Beach Games in Qatar in 2019 with Panah ILYASLI (70kg) and Ibrahim YUSUBOV (80kg) taking their places on the podium.
Ibrahim Yusubov is taking a step up in weight for the Beach World Series in Katerini, competing in the 90kg category where he faces stiff opposition from Rome gold medalist Muhaammad INAM of Pakistan, and Mihal Nicolae PALAGHIA of Romania and his coach is hoping that both Ibrahim and the other 3 wrestlers on the Azerbaijani roster for this event (including Oyan himself) can give a good account of themselves on the sand.
The future looks bright for the Azerbaijani team with Nazariani leading the way and we look forward with interest to see how they fare as the action gets underway in Greece this weekend.
